Valerie's Last Race
Project Overview:
As a passionate member of my university’s rowing team, I combined my love for the sport with my media skills by creating a short interview film featuring our head coach at the time, Valerie Spiegelthal. This was an individual project where I took on every major role: directing, filming, editing, and designing the audio. This allowed me to fully explore the storytelling process from start to finish.
Objectives and Strategy:
The goal was to capture not just an interview, but the spirit of dedication, leadership, and team culture that rowing instills. I filmed and conducted the interview myself, using a mix of candid visuals and purposeful framing to reflect the coach’s personality and impact. I paid close attention to pacing and tone in the edit, making sure the video felt as motivating and genuine as the person it featured.

This was one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on, as it brought together two important parts of my life—rowing and storytelling.
